The Final, Final Frontier?

Talk about senseless. Can ANYONE tell me how it makes sense to redirect the strategic oil reserves allocation into general oil usage... which MAY drop prices as much as 5cents (if at ALL)... But NOT recess the national gas tax that ADDs 18 cents to each gallon of gas???? And don't give me the "pays for the roads" crap. We know they already have money for that and it's wastefully spent with overruns and slow work being done.

ITEM: The Star Trek Experience at the Hilton has it's lease up at the end of this year. Looks like they won't renew.

I had heard rumours of this a few months back. It's still the mecca of geekdom and all but yearround numbers are down and the lack of brand promotion hasn't helped. Reminds me to find out when the CreationCon is this year so I definitely attend. It does have everybody involved ( they all love Vegas) but this might make it even more important if it's the last one there. the 2 rides are amazing for a true fan and Quarks is a great hangout, prices being competitve for casino dining. The Promonade has lots of unique geek gear and collectibles... the History walk is kinda dull and has many props. On the other hand they have great moments scenes showing on the overhead bigscreens which capture the feel of the multiple series. I will miss it when it leaves; where else would you find talking urinals but in the spaceport casino of the future?

Strange Little Girl...
Today was just strange. Sutra and I met up and went shopping and walked all over. I decided not to go to the dinner at work -- mostly because I am strange and antisocial. I kind of knew when I bought the ticket that I wouldn't go. I don't really know what my problem is. I'm just not into that whole hanging-out-with-large-groups-of-people thing. Especially when the only thing we have in common is that we work together. I mean, they aren't people I would hang out with otherwise. Plus, I'm feeling like a huge fat cow since I gained back all the weight I lost a few years ago and the idea of trying to find something to wear was panic-inducing (until I re-lose the weight, I'd rather not go clothes shopping).
Instead, I hung out with Sutra and did the Starbucks/Sephora/MAC Pro store thing. At Sephora I ended up getting the Philosophy starter kit (I used Philosophy before and loved it but blamed it for my rosacea. I think it was coincidence but I guess we'll find out), Urban Decay Primer Potion (LOVE IT and will never be without), and a Guerlain Terracotta lipgloss (in pink sun) which makes me feel all Paris Hilton in a weird kind of way (not sure how I feel about that but the gloss is pretty!). At MAC I got 2 brushes (188 & 263), 3 eyeshadows (clue, mystery, & post haste), 1 beauty powder blush (true romantic), 1 paint (flammable), 1 technakohl eyeliner (grey print) and 2 pigment samples (grape & reflects blackened red). Oh, and I picked up the charged water hydrating mist because it seems cool and I wanted to try it.
I also ended up getting 2 pairs of shoes at Payless -- partly because I was being frivolous and partly because we had walked in the rain and my feet were wet which happens to be my biggest pet peeve. One pair of black maryjanes (you can never have too many maryjanes, imo!) and a pair of green ballet flats.

I started getting all weirded out because the MAC Pro store (and the adjacent Starbucks on Spadina) happens to be near Phil's home/work. I didn't think it would bother me at all but it did. A LOT. I had some strange mix of happiness and sadness and anxiety. And yes, all the feelings were related to thoughts of him (it's complicated but I will always love him, no matter what and no matter how stupid it seems from the outside). Augh. It got to the point where I was all edgy and agitated and dragging Sutra to the PATH so we could jump on the subway and come back up to Davisville. The plan was to see a movie but we ended up getting soup at Pickle Barrel and going home. Tomorrow is quiet -- laundry and cleaning. The rest of the weekend I'm working (4 days) and then I'm off for a week before returning back on nights (thank god). I haven't heard anything from that hospital about the OR position/sponsorship/course. I'm going to assume it will happen and try not to think about it (and why wouldn't it, I mean, I AM a rockstar!). I just wish I knew for sure so I had something positive to look forward to, you know?

I should go have a bath and relax. I had 2 venti lattes today and feel gross. *blah*

BARACK, CLINTON, FOURCORNERS

Question: We all know that Barack Obama is going to be OUR next President of the United States, so, should Obama pick Hillary Clinton as Vice President? Why?

IT'S THANK YOU TIME AGAIN!

What a wonderful and touching surprise when [info]fourcorners sent me for Valentine's Day, this very pretty little box which contained this lovely heart inside (hope it's his 'cuz I'm keeping it forever!), and this candle which smells sooo very nice! Late at night, while I'm working on my computer, I turn off the lights and light the candle for just a tiny little while, because I want it to last me for as long as possible!

Not too long ago, [info]fourcorners wrote a story for me, which I have in one of my web sites, and it was excellent! He is extremely talented, and I hope he'll one day write a love and romance book. I seriously believe it would be a best seller!

Thank you (S), from the bottom of my heart!

I think today I'm dragging Sutra up/down Queen St. West. I'm feeling a need to visit Sephora and the MAC Pro store and I need a dress for the dinner thing tonight (an ONA/nursing week dinner with a Taj Mahal theme... speaking of nursing week, our unit won an award for excellence in practice *haha*). Sutra's never done the makeup thing, I'm sure she'll think it's fun. Hopefully I can get going before it starts raining!

(and yes, I know I was just at MAC last week... it's like a fire, what can I say?)

I used to LOVE REM but now I can't stand Michael Stipe's whiney pretentiousness. Seriously, when I comes on my iPod I want to throw the thing across the room/street/pond. When did that happen??

Today is a good day. Not for any real reason. I just decided. ;)

GIT outta my KITCHEN!!!
Well I did end up making the Captain Crunch Chicken but it needs help. Essentially it's your basic chicken strips; breats meat soaked in milk/egg mix, tossed in flour with garlic, onion, pepper and paprika... THEN roll in a crushed mix of cornflakes and Capt. Crunch then you deepfry. The problem is I could mildly taste the garlic but not any other spices, and the crunch adds a slight sweetness... but it really lacks a killer flavor. It's 2 lb.s worth so there's 12 tenders; I got 2 more meals out of it. I think I'll swap out the spices for a frenchfry seasoning/adobo mix with alittle creole. Either that or I'll go for lemon pepper and add parmesean with the crunch. I'll fix it. I also pimped up some limeade adding some keylimes to chilled countrytime, amazingly good.

Holding off on the Bourbon chicken til the weekend; I got way too much cajun rice to eat as well.

Just been getting a little sun and swim in during the early afternoons. The "squatters" leave on Saturday. They can take the patio table, a set of dishes and 2 towels as nice parting gifts. Thank you for playing.

Light and Dark

©bichenodaily.com - Light and Dark - Looking Opposite to the Sunset

This shot is from no where near Bicheno or even the east coast and instead is just north of Tunbridge in the midlands of Tasmania. But i like it and I was driving back from the East Coast in a round about route through Campbell Town along the Lake Leake Road so why not.

I like the photo because it was taken a little before sunset with the light getting towards that just right kind of light that is around at dawn and dusk. It is however taken in the opposite direction to the sunset as one of the things i have learned again (how I ever forgot i don’t know) that a sunset is really a 360 degree experience. Sure you can look at just the bright sunset on its own but if you look in other directions you will see sometimes different colours. I remember being in Bussleton West Australia one sunset and seeing a bright purple sunset in the opposite direction one day and regret not having my camera!

Just a Wisp of Cloud

©themountainphoto.com - Just a Wisp of Cloud near Mt Wellington, Tasmania

Seen here, much of the City Centre and Mt Wellington from last weekend. It started off a little overcast but as the day went on it got clearer until there was just this wisp of cloud and then it too was gone!
